Hi, I'm Marlena...
"Gritty, witty, & pretty" as gardening brings out the sexy in all of us. Dirty hands and boots, hell yes.
Founder and CEO of Guidance for Growers Consulting, LLC. I educate & empower families to grow food successfully.
Former veggie farmer at Girl Next Door Farm, and author of Seasonal Rhythms: 2020 Garden Calendar Guide - growing food is truly my calling.
Becoming a garden advocate happened for me when I discovered a lack of nutrition in my food choices, and lack of accessibility in my community. I walked away from corporate America to take a farm apprenticeship and never looked back.
For 6 years I grew over 30 types of fruits, veggies, and herbs - & provided 1000’s of lbs of produce to the Louisville, KY area.
I grew $30K worth of salad greens, carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, basil, beans, squash, melons, and garlic, etc.
Now working to educate and train others to grow food for their families has been a joy and a privilege. An important lesson is that there is always more to learn in gardening and that is what makes it fascinating!

ENROLL NOWSo you're probably thinking...
How important is this?
Very. Growing food is more than a novelty, it's a discipline. Which is why our training program is more than just a class. You will become part of a community that motivates, inspires, & educates you on how to be attentive to your gardens' needs. You will receive direct mentorship from a horticultural expert for 3 months in the height of the growing season.
All this over a few tomato plants?
No. If that's all you want to do, this program isn't for you! We only want ambitious growers in our group. We welcome container gardeners and field growers alike. If you wish to grow food for your family, you are a good fit.
Any gardener knows the pure joy of having an abundant harvest. They also know the heartbreak of garden losses. Reap What You Sow teaches you gardening fundamentals that will prepare you for such obstacles to ensure your successes.
