Our training sessions will help you decide what is important for YOUR Veggie Garden.  You will develop a personal garden philosophy that will be your guide throughout the growing season.  You will decide what you want to grow, eat, or preserve. 

We will go step by step on HOW TO get started and HOW TO manage your space effectively.  We will be referring to our 2020 Garden Calendar Guide & our Seed Packet eWorkbook materials as a way to stay accountable and keep it simple!

Are you located near the Louisville area? 

Gardening is always more fun with friends!

We're extending our services into the LOCAL community to have a more hands-on experience!  Let's bond over dirty hands and boots - implementing what you're learning online. This will be an interactive indoor/outdoor training opportunity! 

It will run approximately 8 weeks depending on weather.

Classes will average 2 hrs in duration and will meet weekly/bi-weekly.

Upon completion of the local series you may always return to the growing site to REAP WHAT YOU'VE SOWN! 

This will be in collaboration with JOFEE (Jewish Outdoor Food & Environmental Education) at the JCC to build a functioning Community Garden for us all!

(***LOCAL ACTIVITIES WILL RESUME AFTER PANDEMIC SUBSIDES)

ACTIVITIES will include:

+ Blend a homemade potting mix
+ Take a Soil Sample onsite
+ Sowing Seeds with recyclables
+ Garden layout and construction
+ Amending soil
+ Create a crop rotation map
+ Interpret Soil Analysis
+ Planting and fertilizing
Sow a Cover Crop plot 
+ Composting
Scout walk:  Using visual and sensory cues.

Instructor Bios:

Marlena Wolf Founder and CEO of Guidance for Growers Consulting LLC.  She serves by empowering others to grow food successfully.  

Vegetable farmer, horticultural expert, and author of Seasonal Rhythms: 2020 Garden Calendar Guide - growing food is truly her calling.  She designs, installs, and maintains commercial and residential vegetable gardens in the local area.  She is a Farm & Garden Consultant, educator, and leads farm meditations as well. 

Marlena will be leading the workshops along side her dear friend, Alayna.  

Alayna Altman is the Director of JOFEE (Jewish Outdoor Food and Environmental Education) at the Jewish Community of Louisville and a jack of all trades.  She was an apprentice on Girl Next Door Farm in 2012 and has traveled the world strengthening her skill set and her holistic approach toward preserving local food systems.  She is rebuilding the Community Gardens onsite to feed more people in need, and empowering the Jewish Community to do the same.  She will be assisting our local workshop series and leading our composting demo!
