Girl Next Door Farm
Look, I wasn’t raised in a farm family. And I didn’t study agriculture in college. But I did become so discontent with Corporate America that I FLED to find freedom in the mentorship of an organic vegetable farmer. He, and other small-scale growers, taught me how to manage farm operations and ultimately run it as a business. I served on the board of local farm advocacy groups and went to every conference I could sink my teeth into.
I owned & operated Girl Next Door Farm for 4 years. My sixth year as a grower, I SOLD $30K on what was once 1 ACRE of hay. Not bad, huh? Some perspective: an acre of hay averages $475 a season.
I was Featured in The Woman Hobby Farmer book by Karen Lanier, the Courier Journal, Edible Louisville Magazine, and Manner & Lane Online Publication. I Spoke on panels at “Minorities in Agriculture” and “Women Veterans in Agriculture” Conferences. The news channel even came by the farm once and traveled with me as I delivered to local restaurants. Lastly, I have the honor of having my portrait hung in one of them. Yeah, I'm a local celeb!
